Every July, Disability Pride Month celebrates the identities, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities while recognizing the continued work toward a more inclusive and accessible world. The month also commemorates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law that helped protect the rights of people with disabilities and reduce barriers to participation in everyday life.
The 2026 Disability Pride Month theme, “The World Works Better With Us,” celebrates the many ways people with disabilities contribute to their communities and highlights the importance of inclusion, representation, and accessibility. The theme was selected by The Arc’s National Council of Self-Advocates, a disabled-led council that helps elevate the voices and leadership of people with disabilities. When people with disabilities are included, empowered, and given opportunities to share their perspectives and lead change, communities become stronger for everyone.
At its core, Disability Pride Month is about listening to and celebrating the voices of people with disabilities. It recognizes the importance of lived experiences, advocacy, and community in creating a world where everyone has the opportunity to participate, connect, and thrive.
What Does Disability Pride Mean?
Disability Pride is an opportunity to celebrate the identities, experiences, and contributions of people with disabilities. It recognizes that disability is a natural part of human diversity and highlights the importance of creating a world where people with disabilities are respected, included, and supported.
For many individuals, disability is an important part of who they are. Disability Pride Month creates space to celebrate those experiences, challenge misconceptions, and continue advocating for greater accessibility, representation, and inclusion.
Why Disability Pride Month Matters
Disability Pride Month is an opportunity to recognize both the progress that has been made toward inclusion and the continued work needed to create a more accessible world.
It reminds us that inclusion means creating spaces where people with disabilities are valued, represented, and supported. By listening to lived experiences and learning from disability advocates, we can continue building communities where everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
Disability Pride Month is a time to:
- Celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of people with disabilities.
- Learn from the voices and experiences of disability advocates and community members.
- Recognize the importance of accessibility and inclusion.
- Challenge misconceptions about disability.
- Continue building communities where everyone belongs.
Ways to Celebrate Disability Pride Month
There are many ways to recognize Disability Pride Month and support a more inclusive world:
Listen and learn from the voices and experiences of people with disabilities
Seek out stories, experiences, and perspectives shared by people with disabilities. Learning directly from the community helps create greater understanding and awareness.
Support disability-led organizations
Many organizations supporting the Down syndrome community work year-round to promote accessibility, advocacy, and opportunities for people with disabilities and their families.
Celebrate differences with your family
Disability Pride Month is a great opportunity to teach children about inclusion, kindness, and respecting what makes each person unique.
Create more accessible spaces
Whether at home, in your community, or online, small changes can help make environments more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
While Disability Pride Month is celebrated each July, inclusion and advocacy are important throughout the entire year.
Our Commitment to the Down Syndrome Community
At Dr. Noze Best, Disability Pride Month is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible families who have helped shape our journey. The experiences shared by families in the Down syndrome community helped inspire the creation of NozeBot®, and their stories continue to remind us why thoughtful solutions designed around real family needs matter.
While Disability Pride Month shines a spotlight on inclusion each July, our commitment continues throughout the year. We proudly donate a portion of our sales to the National Down Syndrome Congress and other organizations dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
We are grateful to be part of a community that continues to inspire us to listen, learn, and create products that help families breathe a little easier together.
The Nozebot is a battery-powered suction device designed to clear nasal congestion in babies and children.
