Child wellness company Dr. Noze Best was founded by Steven L. Goudy, MD, MBA, a pediatric ENT and Director of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Previously Dr. Goudy spent 10 years on faculty at Vanderbilt University. In addition to providing clinical care, his NIH-funded research lab studies tissue regeneration to treat cleft lip and palate disorders. His work in the U.S. and in developing nations (including 25+ surgical mission trips) to surgically correct these disorders have influenced his line of scientific inquiry to improve the lives of children.
The idea for Dr. Noze Best and its first product, the NozeBot, was born from the many conversations Dr. Goudy had with families who were desperate for an effective solution for clearing the nasal passages of their children. There was an evident need for at-home and on-the-go access to nasal aspiration that was as powerful and hygienic as the suction his team could provide at the hospital.
In 2015, Dr. Goudy sponsored a senior capstone design project at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Under his guidance, a group of students ideated solutions to make nasal aspiration easier and more effective. Their prototype won the Best Biomedical Engineering Device Award at Georgia Tech that fall, and a provisional patent was filed. (The patent was awarded in 2019.)
Dr. Goudy partnered with the Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI) to iterate the design, a process furthered by collaborations with product development firms Enginuity Works and Creature and with funding from the Georgia Research Alliance and Biolocity. In 2016, Dr. Noze Best was formed. After several years of design and development and the hiring of key staff members, the NozeBot officially hit the market in January 2021.
The greater purpose of Dr. Noze Best is to improve children's health and reduce stress for parents by providing innovative products and educational content.
From our Founder and CEO, Steven Goudy, MD, MBA
Upper Respiratory Infections are miserable for babies and terrifying for parents. Nasal aspirators on the market are meant to help, but most are hard-or gross-to use and ineffective. We created the Nozebot to help babies breathe and give parents peace of mind.
The first product of Dr. Noze Best, the NozeBot is focused on improving the ability of parents and caregivers to suction out their child's nose. As a Pediatric ENT, I've had hundreds of families come to me for the powerful and effective suction that could only be found in a hospital setting. My mission was to solve this silent suffering with a product that could be used at home and on the go, and to provide an alternative to less effective tools.
